TCC Alumni Association's First Phonathon A Success

The TCC Alumni Association conducted its first Phonathon during the first two weeks of October as part of the organization's annual membership drive. Over the course of eight evenings, TCC student callers phoned alumni who graduated from TCC between 1967 and 1997 to ask them to join or renew their membership in the Alumni Association or give contributions for student scholarships.

During the Phonathon, the Association received 117 pledges for membership or gifts. In addition to pledges, students made personal contact with more than 2,200 alumni to gather updated contact information and inform alumni about what's going on at the College.

Members of the Association's volunteer board of directors were on hand to supervise and assist the callers and several made personal calls to alumni themselves. Dalynda Vause, 1988 graduate and 2008-09 Board President said “This is an excellent way to bridge the connection between students who are currently enrolled at TCC with those who may not have stepped foot on campus for many years. It was exciting to hear students converse with graduates and answer questions about what's new on campus.”

Temporary seating and phone lines for the phonathon were provided by PATLive, a local company that offers automated and live telephone answering services for businesses. The TCC Foundation found PATLive through Embarq, who has supported the Alumni Association and its efforts to strengthen TCC's relationship with the community, including sponsoring the College's 40^th Anniversary in 2006.

The TCC Alumni Association began in 1996 and serves as a liaison between the College and its alumni. The Association, through its membership program, brick program and special events, raises funds to support student scholarships and student and alumni programs.
