TheatreTCC! opens its 2008-09 season at 8 p.m., Thursday, October 9 when “Greater Tuna” hits the stage at Tallahassee Community College's Turner Auditorium for the first of six evening performances.
Additional show times are 8 p.m., October 10 and 11 and 18-20. Turner Auditorium is located inside Tallahassee Community College's Fine & Performing Arts Center.
A successful off-Broadway show by Jason Williams, Joe Sears and Ed Howard, “Greater Tuna” takes a journey through a day in the life of Tuna, Texas—the “third-smallest town” in the state. Starting with the morning broadcast from radio station OKKK, this spiffy satire paints a wickedly amusing picture of conservative traditions. Certainly, after more than a quarter-century, it's the realities, not just the parodies, that make “Greater Tuna” an undated hit.
“Greater Tuna,” the first of three shows on TheatreTCC!'s 2008-09 schedule, will be followed by “A Christmas Carol” (November 20-22, December 4-6) and “Anything Goes” (April 9-11, 16-18).
TCC students, faculty and staff who have a valid ID are admitted to TheatreTCC! performances free of charge. Additionally, faculty and staff can bring a guest at no cost.
Tickets for “Greater Tuna” can be purchased in advance by calling the FSU Fine Arts Ticket Office at (850) 644-6500 or at the door the night of the show. The Turner Auditorium Box Office opens at 7 p.m.
Tickets for the general public are $10 for adults, $7 for senior citizens and $5 for children and non-TCC students. Season tickets are also available for adults ($30) and senior citizens ($25). Groups of 10 or more also qualify for a discount: $5 per ticket for adults and senior citizens, $3 per ticket for children and non-TCC students. Special event nights are also available to groups.
